The rights to the Peanuts characters has been bought by the company that owns Joe Boxer. Does that mean that we will soon be seeing Joe Cool Boxer? This is just the right to use Peanuts characters in advertising and not the rights to the comic strips. I’m sure when Charles Schultz first created his characters some 60 odd years ago he had no idea just what whores they would turn out to be. They earn nearly a billion dollars a year in advertising revenue. If you could make this kind of money, wouldn’t you be a whore, too? I remember seeing the Christmas special for the first time as a small child. Snoopy was so cool. He has been my hero ever since. And he is a fine role model, as well. How many people have as many talents as this dog has? He has the ability and wherewithal to accomplish any task, and with a flare that makes it all most entertaining to watch. And what a dancer. I have studied his technique for years and have still not quite figured it out. There were some other characters in the comic strips, as well. I don’t know who they were or what they were doing, but I remember seeing them at some point. Charles Schultz made an impact on the world that I’m sure he never imagined was possible with his little comic strip. The first strip ever printed was the only one he didn’t feel good about. The reason being that he had a boy in it saying that he hated Charlie Brown. He never made that mistake again. From there he put out strips that he could be happy with, and apparently so was the rest of the world. The strip was first printed in 1950 and thrived until Schultz’s retirement in 1999. The strips are still being reprinted to this day. It didn’t hurt to have a klutzy main character that most people could identify with on occasions. (And a crazy dog that was a bit of an over achiever.)
